SINGING LOTUS YOGA STUDIO
has been a part of the Community sharing the practice of Yoga and Pilates since September 10, 2001.
As of March 13, 2020, the studio has been closed and our drop in class schedule suspended due to the ongoing COVID-19 Virus concerns in our city, our country and around the world. We had hoped to re-open after the March break but unfortunately, this is not possible.
The studio will remain closed indefinitely and we will continue to monitor the situation around us to establish when it may be appropriate to re-open the studio doors. In the meantime, it is our sincere hope that all of the community stay healthy and safe. It is at a moment like this we truly need to appreciate being healthy and promoting healthy practices to continue to stay healthy. Yoga practice has taught me many things over the years, specifically coping mechanisms in a time like this and specifically two things that have been hi-lighted for me in the last couple of weeks.
Firstly, Self-Awareness! We lead such fast paced lives that we don't pay attention to how we feel. We can't do that right now. Listen to your body. Try to get some exercise. Get some fresh air. How we treat our bodies right now will affect how our mind responds to the stress of the situation. Most importantly, if you don't feel well, get rest and keep your distance from others. As you practice 'social distancing' stay connected to others through technology. Develop an at home Yoga / Meditation practice, you probably have time to do that now! If you're able go for a walk, take some deep breaths, wave and say hi to someone walking by! As my friend Teri told me, "Motion is Lotion". Keep the body moving with breath and physical activity.
Secondly, at the core is MINDFULNESS! The mind at the best of times is a chaotic space for most of us. This added stress is only going to make quieting the chaos even more challenging! From physical challenges to financial worry, our minds can convince us it's all dark. Don't get ahead of yourself. Yoga teaches us that we can cultivate mindfulness with focus and breath and now is a time to remind yourself to just pause and take a few deep breaths as often as you can.

Now is a time to pause, tune in and listen. Be mindful and grateful for your health, your family's health and for the community around us!
